Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh is situated in the eastern most Himalayas. The state has verdant forests, turbulent streams, lofty mountains and snow clad peaks make it a tourist paradise. It is one of the most sparsely populated states of India and borders Tibet, China, Bhutan and Myanmar (Burma). Arunachal Pradesh is home to more than fifty tribal groups and various other sub – groups. Five major rivers of the states namely Kameng, Subansiri, Siang, Lohit and Tirap join the biggest river systems in the world forming the powerful Brahmaputra. The snow peaked mountain ranges of Arunachal is home to some of the tallest peaks of the world including Gorichen, Kangto, Takpa Shri, etc. Festivals are an essential part of the life of the tribes. The festivals are celebrated with ritualistic gaiety. The state of Arunachal Pradesh is rich in flora and fauna. Orchids are the one of the most varied and diversified found in the state. Nearly over 500 are to be found in this state alone. These are colourful, spectacular and some bear exotic names. An Orchid Research and Development Centre at Tippi in West Kameng district in addition an Orchidorium at Tippi, two more Orchid conservation sanctuaries have been developed at Sessa and Dirang in West Kameng district. Wildlife of Arunachal Pradesh is rich and varied. Elephants and tigers abound, especially in the grassy foothills and leopards and jungle cats are quite common. The White browed gibbon, red pandas and musk in the higher altitudes can be spotted. Ziro is famous for cultural festivals, Namdapha tiger project, Sela Lake near Bomdilla, Malinithan in Lekhabali, Rukhmininagar near Roing are all places of interest in the state. Two of the most popular circuits in Arunachal Prades are Itanagar – Bomdila – Tawang and Along – Pashighat – Akashiganga.
